TUSTIN — On Wednesday, The Los Angeles Times announced their endorsement of Dr. Asif Mahmood’s campaign for Congress in CA-40.
“At a moment when every seat counts, we recommend Mahmood for the 40th Congressional District,” The LA Times editorial board wrote. “He’s committed to fighting for the personal rights that Californians have come to expect but that are now under threat by the Supreme Court and increasingly backward-looking Republican leaders.”
Dr. Mahmood has made protecting reproductive freedom a cornerstone of his campaign. He believes that important medical decisions about reproductive health care should be kept between a patient and their physician– not the government. Rep. Young Kim has made her stance on contraception and abortion clear by voting no on bills to codify both, votes that hurt our CA-40 families.
“There’s much at stake — reproductive rights, personal freedoms, climate change — and we think Mahmood is a vote for progress,” the editorial board concluded.
