Every person has the right to feel safe in their homes and communities. I believe that we must expand resources for community policing and hold violent criminals accountable.
I support our law enforcement officers and think they are instrumental in protecting our communities. The federal government should support law enforcement and provide them with the tools and training necessary to do their jobs.
I believe that agencies should be trained in de-escalation tactics and implicit biases. Cities and counties should also employ more on-call substance abuse counselors, mental health professionals, and social workers who would partner with law enforcement on calls where their expertise is required.
