TUSTIN — Today, Speaker of the California Assembly Anthony Rendon endorsed Dr. Asif Mahmood in his race to flip CA-40 and defeat Congresswoman Young Kim.
“Dr. Mahmood is just the type of person we need in Congress,” said Rendon. “As a physician, he has witnessed first-hand the struggles many of our families face. I am confident he will be a fierce advocate for those in the 40th District, and I look forward to seeing all that he accomplishes.”
Asif, a pulmonologist and philanthropist, has dedicated his life’s work to helping others. He has treated thousands of patients over the last twenty years and has made it a rule in his practice that if a patient doesn’t have insurance, his office won’t ask for payment.
In 2018, Asif ran for insurance commissioner, raising more than $2.3 million for the race. Dr. Mahmood is in a strong position to take on Congresswoman Young Kim.
